Karting4MND partners with MATE Bike: MATE X eBike headlines BTCC weekend raffle
Karting4MND, the charity kart race in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA), taking place on Thursday 26th August at Thruxton Kart Centre, has gained the support of MATE Bike – the luxury e-Bike brand.
The first major fundraising event hosted by sportscar legend David Brabham and Bill Williams’ Racing4Charity team in a decade, Karting4MND welcomes MATE Bike as one of the main partners for the event, which will help the MND Association further vital research to find a cure for Motor Neurone Disease.
MATE Bike will lend its support through the donation of a MATE X – the brand’s most fashionable and sought after eBike – to headline the Karting4MND charity raffle. Retailing at £2,449, the MATE X is an immensely versatile e-bike, effortless to fold, lightweight and packed with excellent features, such as full suspension, hydraulic brakes, a powerful motor, all-terrain tyres and a long-lasting battery.
To be in with the chance of winning this amazing prize, raffle tickets can be purchased for £5 each from the Racing4Charity stand located close to the Skid Pan across the BTCC event, 28th-29th August. Tickets will also be available in the Thruxton Centre on Saturday (28th August), during the venue’s live evening entertainment.
The MATE.BIKE team, comprising members of the brand’s UK operation will compete in the two-hour charity kart race on Thursday evening. They will join professional drivers from across the motorsport ranks, from karting to British F3 and world-class sportscars, all gathering to help the MND Association fundraising drive.
Over 18 teams of drivers, teams and members of the wider motorsport fraternity will take part in what is hoped will become an annual fundraising fixture. Karting4MND is hosted in honour of MND sufferer Gideon Williams and in memory of sportscar and stunt driver, Neil Cunningham, who passed away from MND in 2016.
Four thousand pounds has already been raised for the cause, thanks to a passenger ride with Le Mans winner David Brabham in the Brabham BT62, which was donated by Brabham Automotive customer Paul Bailey and auctioned through CollectingCars.com.
Harris Qureshi, MATE Bike, said: “We are honoured to be supporting Karting4MND. Motor Neurone Disease is a horrendous disease that affects 5000 people in the UK alone, and we are delighted to help in any way we can to raise awareness and much needed research funds. We are also very excited to have our own MATE team compete in the race and look forward to really getting involved and being part of an event for such a worthwhile cause.”
Bill Williams, Racing4Charity, added: “This will be our first Karting4MND event and Racing4Charity’s first big fundraiser in a decade, so it’s fantastic to have the support of MATE Bike in our first year. The MATE X is the brand’s most sought-after eBike, so to have that headlining our special raffle at the kart race and taking place on our Racing4Charity stand across the BTCC weekend will be an amazing boost to our fundraising efforts. We also look forward to welcoming the MATE team to compete in the two-hour charity race, and to seeing how they fare on four wheels!”
Taking place on Thursday 26th August, Karting4MND begins with practice and qualifying at 17.00, followed by the two-hour endurance race at 18.00. For further information visit racing4charity.co.uk.
